Last year I did a talk about my work at Bradford College. After the talk, the Arts Officer from the Bronte Parsonage Museum in Haworth approached me with a possible offer of a Residency. After a few exhaustive months of securing funding, I’m now planning a Project, which will culminate in an Exhibition within the Museum Collections later on this year.
I am intrigued by the mystery that surrounds the Bronte family, and by the Moors that surround their once family home. Wuthering Heights was one of the first books I read, and is still a favourite of mine. Not least because I have personal associations with it. I remember my nan giving me her copy of the book, when I was about ten years old. I drove from London to Haworth last week to begin my research in the Museum Library. There were many inspiring objects on display, but I am still in the early stages of my research, and am not sure which direction I am going to take yet.

  3. Dear Su,
Bill Brandt found 'Top Withins' near Haworth. I wonder if it is still there. The place looked pretty bleak and ramshakled then. Plenty of atmosphere though!!.

  4. Hey, im studying Art combined at my college, and within my project i used you as a Artist Influence; My project was about Little red riding hood, and i used your piece on "while you were sleeping" with the idea of butterflies arising from the dress, and inputted that within my work, I created a Red cape, and tried to express little red riding hood running through the forest, hence the leaves flowing behind. I created the leave from different materials and all photographs that i had taken through out my project.
    Just letting you know (:
